I wouldn’t use a pressure washer, as well! It’s a drastic step, kind of like a sledgehammer being used to crack a walnut. It can wash away the components of shingles and leave them less resilient. Also, you will be wasting gallons of water just by using it.

Are you going to put a roof deck or just a plain roof top? I suggest that you build a roof deck, if it's not too late. A roof deck is a beautiful place to relax, unwind, and have parties in, if you like to throw parties. I think roof decks need less maintenance than a normal roof does because they usually leak after a few years.
